Service Memory: The Korean War

Harold L. Zahn

Syracuse, Neb.

Cpl., U.S. Marine Corps

Served with 1st Marine Division from 1952 to 1954, including February 1953 to February 1954 in Korea.

Memory: “Was stationed north of Seoul just south of the 38th Parallel. Worked in POW stockade and also on motor patrol. Was on duty near Panmunjom when they exchanged POWs from U.S. and North Korea. I was about a block away as the train went by. Prisoners were hanging out the windows waving and yelling. This was a good feeling and a happy time.”
